Description
Galvanized aluminum-magnesium (GAM) is a new type of high-corrosion-resistance coating product. The coating composition is mainly zinc, with aluminum and magnesium content between 1.5% and 8% (the total content of magnesium is not less than 0.2%). The added magnesium component is beneficial for promoting the formation of a very stable and closely knit protective film – zinc hydroxyl chloride (Zn5(OH)8Cl2· H2O) – on the surface of the coating. This film continuously covers the surface of the coating, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance.
Compared to traditional galvanized or aluminum-zinc coatings, GAM has superior corrosion resistance in cut edges and flat surfaces, low friction coefficient, and wear resistance. It can serve as a substrate for color-coated panels and is widely used in automotive parts, air conditioners, solar photovoltaic brackets, animal husbandry, highway guardrails, electrical cabinets, and wall materials for steel structure buildings.
