In the selection of Z-shaped steel and C-shaped steel. A z-shaped steel section is preferred. From the perspective of stress state, calculation results, and structure, Z-shaped steel is more reasonable: Compared with Z-shaped steel purlin cross-section, the mechanical properties of the strong and weak axes are quite different, and they are different from those of rigid frames. Most of the connections are bolted hinges.
A C-shape can be used for wall purlins and roof purlins with a small slope; a Z-shape should be selected for roof purlins with a large slope so that the resultant force of the roof load passes through the section centroid of the Z-shaped purlin. When the roof slope increases, the utilization rate of the flexural section modulus of the Z-shaped steel symmetrical to the vertical direction increases. Therefore, Z-shaped steel suits roofs with large slopes.
