1. Incomplete penetration:

Causes: The blunt edge of the groove is too thick, the angle is too small, and the assembly gap is too small; the welding current is too small, the arc voltage is low, and the welding speed is too high; the welding arc blow phenomenon; the welding current is too large, the welding wire has melted rapidly when the parent metal has not been fully heated; improper welding operation, incorrect welding gun angle, and welding deviation, etc.

Preventive measures: Correctly select and process the groove size to ensure the assembly gap; correctly select the welding current and welding speed; operate carefully, maintain the appropriate welding gun angle, and prevent welding deviation.

Correction of incomplete penetration: Use carbon arc gouging and chiseling to correct, use a grinding wheel to smooth and clean the surrounding area, and then perform welding repair.

2. Incomplete fusion:

Causes: When welding multiple layers, the slag between layers and the groove side wall is not cleaned up; the welding current is too small; the distance between the electrode and the groove side wall is too large; the swing amplitude of the electrode is too narrow, etc.

Preventive measures: Carefully remove the slag from each layer of weld and the side wall of the groove; correctly select the welding current, improve the rod feeding technique, and pay attention to the swing of the welding rod.

3. Arc pit:

Causes: The welding current is too large, the weld gap is too large, and the amount of filler metal is insufficient.

Preventive measures: Correctly select the welding current and welding speed, control the weld assembly gap to be uniform, and appropriately speed up the addition of filler metal.

Correction of arc pit: First clean the arc pit and the surrounding area, and then weld. If there are pores, slag inclusions, or cracks in the arc pit, they should be eliminated.

4. Weld surface shape and size deviation:

Causes: Improper groove angle, uneven assembly gap, improper selection of welding specifications, excessive or too small welding current, uneven welding speed, incorrect rod feeding technique, overheating of welding rod or welding wire, etc.

Preventive measures: Select the correct welding specification of steel window frame profiles square tube, appropriate welding rod, and its diameter, adjust the assembly gap, evenly feed the rod, and avoid overheating of the welding rod and welding wire.

Correction when the weld appearance size does not meet the requirements: According to the defect situation, it can be corrected with carbon arc gouging and chiseling, and polished with a grinding wheel. When the weld is too narrow or too low, it should be repaired by welding.
