Building deformation joints include elastic joints, settlement joints, seismic joints, etc. Among them, elastic joints are commonly used. The width of civil construction is usually 50-100mm, and the width of elastic deformation of buildings is usually 20-30mm. When the glass curtain wall crosses the elastic seam, the simple solution is to close the curtain wall on both sides of the elastic seam respectively, and the elastic seam is treated as the general elastic seam of the outer wall of the building. But the glass curtain wall is a high-end decoration of the outer enclosure structure. If both the surface of the curtain wall is kept uniform and the building is guaranteed to be free to elastically deform, the author discusses the two main joint methods of the glass curtain wall at the elastic joints (that is, butt joint and vertical joint), and introduces some methods that are used in practical work and Treatments that have proven feasible and useful.

1. Butt joint of curtain wall

Curtain wall butt joint means that the glass curtain walls on both sides of the elastic joint are on the same elevation, and the glass curtain walls are connected to each other. The deformation width is reserved between the glass, and the silicone sealant is written out of the joint, as shown in Figure 1.

The planning and installation of butt-jointed glass curtain walls are as follows:

(1) Installation of curtain wall skeleton Curtain wall skeletons (columns and beams) on both sides of the elastic joints can be installed in the usual way, but the columns can only be fixed with a single corner bracket. If the bearing capacity of a single corner bracket is insufficient, corners can be added on the upper and lower code.

(2) Manufacture and installation of glass components are manufactured according to standard requirements, but special treatment is required during component design. The protruding width of the glass is determined by the width of the elastic joint left in civil engineering and the size of the aluminum profile section, but it must be ensured that the distance between the glass on both sides of the elastic joint is 20-30mm.

The fixing process of the glass components on both sides of the elastic seam is different from the usual practice. Since the glass here protrudes from the aluminum frame, it cannot be installed in a conventional way, so the side can be fixed first, and then the component is inserted into the pressure code and then fixed with the other three sides in a conventional way. The installation process must ensure that the flatness of the curtain wall meets the standard requirements.

(3) The manufacture and installation of galvanized iron sheets should use galvanized iron sheets with a thickness >= 1.0mm, and process them into the shape shown in the size diagram in Figure 1, where the sizes of a and b are determined according to the width of the civil engineering seams; The aluminum corner code is pressed on the outside of the galvanized iron sheet and fixed with stainless steel screws; the installation of the aluminum corner code and the galvanized iron sheet should be carried out before the glass component is installed.

(4) Injection of silicone sealant Fill polyethylene foam strips before the sealant injection. The foam strips should be compatible and bonded with the sealant, the size should be appropriate, and the filling should be stable to ensure that the sealant forms a relatively double-sided paste. , the thickness meets the design and standard requirements, and the sealant should be injected from 50% of the thickness of the glass.

2. The curtain wall is straight

The vertical replacement of the curtain wall means that the glass curtain walls on both sides of the elastic joint are on the two vertical facades of each other, and the glass is vertically replaced. When processing, install columns, beams, glass components, and other components on both sides of the elastic joints, and pay attention to making the curtain wall components on both sides vertical to each other. The distance between the end of the M side glass and the outer surface of the N side glass is 20-30mm. Write silicone sealant at the seam.

The key points of the design and installation of the vertically explained glass curtain wall are as follows:

(4) The manufacture and installation of galvanized iron sheets should use galvanized iron sheets with a thickness >= 1.0mm, and process them into the shape shown in the sizing diagram in Figure 2, where the sizes of a, b, and e are based on the width of the joints left in civil engineering and the curtain wall Profile determination.
