Hexagon steel tubing, also called special-shaped steel pipe, is an economical cross-section steel pipe with a non-circular cross-sectional profile. The wall thickness can be equal or thicker. It can have different diameters and wall thicknesses along the length. The cross-section can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. This shape of steel pipe includes hexagonal, octagonal, diamond, oval, etc. to adapt to different usage conditions and needs.

Repair measures for cracks in hexagonal tube

If special-shaped pipes are constructed improperly, cracks will occur. If they are not discovered and repaired in time, there will be serious hidden dangers. Therefore, we must strictly follow the construction specifications and process requirements related to indirect processes, find out more realistic welding processes, and review them, so as to ensure welding quality. If the crack problem still occurs under such circumstances, we can take the following measures to repair it:

(1) Welders who repair special-shaped pipes must hold corresponding project certificates. It is done by personnel with consistently excellent welding quality, and the rework must meet the first pass;

(2) Weld defects can be removed by mechanical methods, such as portable grinders, etc. Flame cutting cannot be used;

(3) The welding methods and welding parameters used for repair must comply with relevant welding specifications;

(4) Welds of special-shaped pipes to be repaired must be carefully inspected for flaw detection;

(5) Use non-destructive testing methods to identify all cracks and determine their exact location;

(6) Select filling materials that comply with process specifications, that is, welding rods and special-shaped pipes, and use them after drying according to regulations;

(7) When repairing hexagonal tube cracks, the welding environment must meet the welding requirements, such as temperature, rain, wind speed, etc.;

(8) After repair, the welder must put a code next to the repaired location and sign the weld repair record;

(9) The repair data should be guaranteed for a long time, and the repair parts of special-shaped pipes should be inspected regularly during use, and problems should be dealt with in a timely manner.
