Channel Steel:

Channel steel is typically hot-rolled, which means it is formed by heating the steel and then rolling it into its channel shape.

Detailed dimensions and mechanical properties of channel steel are well-defined and standardized, following national standards, such as GB/T7071988 in China.

Metal channel finds wide applications in mechanical engineering, construction, and machinery due to their structural strength and versatility.

U-shaped Steel:

U-shaped steel is usually cold-rolled, a process that forms it at room temperature, resulting in a steel cross-section resembling the letter "U" or sometimes the Japanese letter "ひ."

Unlike channel steel, U-shaped steel lacks consistent national standards for specifications and technical parameters. Manufacturers create U-shaped steel profiles based on production needs or customer requirements by using customized molds.

U channel is primarily used in specific applications, such as mine tunnels, mine tunnel secondary support, and mountain tunnel support. It is known for its high load-bearing capacity, long-term support, easy installation, and resistance to deformation.

It's important to note that the application and standards for U-shaped steel can vary from country to country, leading to differences in cross-sectional shapes, geometric parameters, and materials. This lack of standardization can make U-shaped steel profiles more adaptable to specific needs but potentially less consistent in quality and characteristics.
