Seamless steel tubes are manufactured by piercing solid round steel billets, creating hollow tubes without any welded seams along their surfaces. These pipes are categorized by their manufacturing techniques into hot-rolled, cold-rolled, cold-drawn, extruded, and pierced varieties. In terms of cross-sectional profiles, they come in circular and specialized shapes. Special shaped tubes encompass square, oval, triangular, hexagonal, melon seed, star, and finned configurations, with diameters spanning from 4mm to 900mm. Based on wall thickness, they are classified as thick-walled or thin-walled seamless steel pipes. Their primary applications include petroleum geological drilling, petrochemical cracking units, boiler systems, bearing housings, and high-precision structural components in automotive, tractor, and aerospace engineering.

Seamless steel pipes serve diverse functions across multiple sectors.

1.Standard seamless steel pipes are produced from standard carbon structural steel, low-alloy structural steel, or alloy structural steel, representing the highest production volume. They are predominantly utilized as fluid transport conduits or structural elements.

2.Supply specifications are divided into three categories according to application requirements:

a. Chemical composition and mechanical properties certification;

b. Mechanical performance certification;

c. Hydrostatic test certification. Pipes supplied under categories a and b that will convey pressurized liquids must additionally pass hydraulic pressure testing.

3.Specialized seamless tubes encompass boiler-grade pipes, chemical and power industry pipes, geological exploration pipes, and petroleum-grade seamless pipes.

Featuring hollow cross-sections, seamless steel pipes are extensively employed as conduits for fluid transportation, including petroleum, natural gas, fuel gas, water, and certain solid materials. When compared to solid steel bar, these pipes demonstrate superior strength-to-weight ratios under bending and torsional loads, making them economically efficient structural materials. They are widely implemented in structural components and mechanical parts manufacturing, such as oil drilling columns, automotive drive shafts, bicycle frames, and construction scaffolding. Utilizing steel pipes for annular components enhances material efficiency, streamlines production processes, and reduces material consumption and machining time.

The principal manufacturing methods for seamless steel pipes comprise two distinct processes (cold rolling and hot rolling):

Tube billet preparation and inspection△→tube billet heating→perforation→tube rolling→pipe reheating→fixed (reduced) diameter→heat treatment△→finished tube straightening→finishing→inspection△(non-destructive, physical and chemical, bench inspection)→in storage

(2)Main production process of cold-rolled seamless steel pipe:

Blank preparation → pickling and lubrication → cold rolling (drawing) → heat treatment → straightening → finishing → inspection → storage
